Ferrari is set to unveil its first fully electric model in 2025, yet the company remains tight-lipped about its design. New spy shots show what appears to be an early prototype of the upcoming electric vehicle, featuring temporary components sourced from Ferrari and Maserati.
The test vehicle resembles a coupe crossover transformed into a large sports hatchback. It combines a five-door body structure similar to the Maserati Levante with much larger wheels and a lower suspension system. The LED headlights seem to be derived from the Ferrari Roma, while the front bumper features air intakes similar to the BMW M2 models.
There are many intriguing details that catch the eye. The quad exhaust outlets appear to be mere decorations, indicating a fully electric powertrain. The vibrant yellow lightning logos surrounding the body and the completely closed front grille further suggest its electric nature. The large wheels and Pirelli tires necessitated modifications to the Maserati's wheel arches, with plastic extensions added to accommodate the larger tires.
The photographed Ferrari does not reveal much about the final production model's design. However, it gives an idea of the expected size of the vehicle in terms of wheelbase and width. Ferrari continues to keep silent about the body shape and specifications of its first electric car, suggesting it could likely be a roadster, a supercar, a large tourer, or even a crossover.
Last week, Ferrari unveiled the 'E-Building', a brand new facility in Maranello dedicated to producing its new electric vehicles alongside internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid models. The company confirmed that, similar to its current V6, V8, and V12 engines, the electric motors, batteries, and axles for these new vehicles will be produced in-house.
