Recently, the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced the import of over 160,000 cars into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the period from 2022 to 2023. In 2023 alone, 93,199 cars were imported, while 66,870 cars were imported in 2022.
Regarding vehicle safety, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) reported that 60,473 vehicles were inspected in 2023 to ensure compliance with the highest technology and safety standards. Additionally, the organization issued 18,150 energy efficiency certificates for tire products.
The organization's spokesperson, Eng. Wael Al-Dhiyab, emphasized the organization's commitment to strict standards for tire quality and safety in the Saudi market, also pointing to its significant contribution to enhancing energy efficiency and product safety. Notably, the organization announced a 465% increase in compliance certificates for electric vehicles in 2023 compared to the previous year.
This highlights the organization's role in supporting the transition to clean energy. The organization also issued 1,505 fuel consumption efficiency labels for new light vehicles.
