Volvo XC90 Receives Its Second Facelift with Exterior and Interior Changes

Volvo has unveiled another updated facelift version of its long-standing XC90 SUV. This vehicle offers better efficiency in its hybrid powertrains, along with updates to technology and interior materials. The current second generation of the XC90 first appeared in 2014 and was launched for sale the following year, before being refreshed with a facelift for the first time in 2019.

The XC90 still remains a beautiful SUV, featuring headlamps inspired by the new DX90 electric model with modified hammer design. The vehicle also sports a newly designed grille that is more aesthetically pleasing than before. In terms of interior design, it has been simply updated with new materials and an upgraded touchscreen size from 9.0 inches to 11.2 inches, along with a reconfigured operating system for easier access to applications with fewer finger taps.

The car is also equipped with a new cup holder that accommodates cans and slim bottles. This update appears to respond to customer feedback, along with additional storage space in the center console and a repositioned wireless phone charger.

The new vehicle, which combines a 306-horsepower gasoline engine with a 143-horsepower electric motor, can travel 70 kilometers on a full charge. This makes it lag behind more modern plug-in hybrid SUVs like the smaller Volkswagen Tiguan and the larger Range Rover, both of which have a range of 113 kilometers. Even the older Audi Q7 hybrid can cover 84 kilometers before needing to recharge.

On a positive note, the XC90's light hybrid engines, with the B5 four-cylinder turbocharged version at 247 horsepower and the B6 turbocharged version at 296 horsepower, show improvements in fuel consumption. It is said that modifications to the suspension and sound insulation make the XC90 quieter and more comfortable to drive.
