The Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer is a versatile electric vehicle from the German automaker Volkswagen, blending the practicality of a station wagon with the eco-friendly aspects of electric vehicles. Unlike a standard long-roof car, this model is designed for performance, adaptable to all weather conditions, and showcases elements derived from shooting brake designs. It made its debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show.
The vehicle features glossy black accents throughout, paired with a honeycomb pattern at both the front and rear, presenting a sleek and futuristic look that highlights its sporty focus. The front bumper is more aggressive, equipped with vertical LED daytime running lights that mimic an arrow shape, along with a distinctive honeycomb grille that lends the front an exclusive appearance.
On the sides, the glossy black ORVM covers and the glossy black GTX lettering on the front doors add to the sporty design. The exclusive 20-inch Skagen wheels are a key distinguishing feature from the regular ID.7. Customers can also opt to upgrade to 21-inch Mataró wheels for an even more impressive road presence.
At the rear, the Volkswagen logo lights up in red, immediately signaling the GTX model. A honeycomb grille appears at the bottom of the bumper, followed by a red reflector strip and a diffuser.
Finally, a glossy black GTX badge is positioned beneath the license plate, with the roof and roof rails finished in the same dark touch. The interior design of the Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer features a sporty aesthetic with numerous design changes from the standard vehicle.
The cabin is entirely black but incorporates red elements throughout for contrast. The front seats bear the red GTX logo embossed, and the steering wheel features chrome touches.
The GTX-specific design is completed with red stitching on the seat covers, steering wheel, and red accents on the dashboard and seat covers. It also boasts a comfortable and practical interior. The front seats provide excellent lumbar and thigh support.
Despite the low roofline, headroom is adequate, and the large panoramic glass sunroof offers a feeling of spaciousness. The large windshield and generally expansive glass area provide excellent external visibility.
The design is simple, featuring a small digital instrument cluster and a large central touchscreen that controls everything from climate settings to navigation. The glossy black accents on the dashboard and center console look stylish, though they may be prone to fingerprints.
In the rear, there is ample knee room and good thigh support. While headroom is average, the adjustable headrests and nearly flat floor make it comfortable for three adults. Rear seat amenities include seat ventilation, vents, USB ports, and an armrest with cup holders.
The Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer uses two motors, with a 107-horsepower asynchronous unit (AKA150) at the front and a 282-horsepower permanent magnet synchronous unit (PSM) at the rear, delivering a total output of 335 horsepower, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds.
An 86 kWh battery powers the motors and supports charging up to 200 kW. It can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes with a DC fast charger. With an 11 kW AC charger, it takes nine hours to charge from 0% to 100%. When fully charged, the electric station wagon can cover up to 357 miles, according to WLTP standards.
