The m-square net has revealed that Toyota is set to launch a new compact crossover known as the "Taigor" in India. This vehicle will debut shortly, sharing its platform and components with the Suzuki Fronx but carrying the Toyota badge. Toyota has established a strategic partnership with Suzuki, enabling both brands to share models across various markets, including India and Europe. For instance, models like the Suzuki Across and Swace in the UK are essentially rebadged versions of the Toyota RAV4 and Corolla. Conversely, in India, Toyota offers several Suzuki models, including the newly introduced Taigor.
What Sets the Toyota Taigor Apart from the Suzuki Fronx?
Toyota intends to differentiate the Taigor from its Suzuki counterpart by incorporating a distinctive front design featuring unique LED headlights, a modified grille, and exclusive wheel designs, alongside upgraded interior materials. The technical specifications will largely match those of the Suzuki Fronx, including a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 89 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque, available with either a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. Additionally, it will feature a turbocharged 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine with 98 horsepower and 147 Nm of torque, also offered with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
