The monthly report from BestSellingCarsBlog highlighted significant changes in the Saudi car market in February 2025, with Korean sedans making a strong impression at the top. Hyundai Accent led the chart, selling 3,646 units and securing a 5% market share. Kia Pegas followed with 3,036 units, and Nissan Sunny took third place with 2,848 units. This performance, compared to January sales, reflects changing buyer priorities and growing confidence in quality, efficiency, and design. These numbers signal the Korean brands’ ability to attract consumers amid traditional competition from Japanese models.

Korean Sedans Reign Supreme

Hyundai Accent affirmed its economic appeal with a 37% annual growth rate, showcasing customer satisfaction with its reliable engine and fuel efficiency. The Accent offers multiple trim options and essential safety features like electronic stability control, catering to the needs of families and daily commuters. Priced between SAR 60,000 and SAR 80,000, it stands as a strong contender in the budget friendly sedan segment.

Kia Pegas experienced a 38% year on year increase, benefiting from its modern design and spacious interior suitable for city driving. Its price ranges between SAR 55,000 and SAR 70,000, and it comes with a five year maintenance package to lower total ownership costs.

Absence of Yaris Raises Questions About Buyer Loyalty

Toyota Yaris Sedan topped January sales with 3,072 units sold, but saw demand decline in February. Sales dropped by 9.6% compared to the same period last year, reflecting buyers’ interest shifting toward flexible financing offers from Korean dealers and technological features missing from some basic Yaris trims.

Yaris prices start at SAR 60,000 and go up to SAR 70,000; however, buyers lean toward models offering larger entertainment screens and driver assist systems like forward collision warning.

Camry, Sunny, and Taurus: Market Preferences Unveiled

Nissan Sunny achieved sales of 2,848 units in February, marking a 76% annual growth rate and highlighting its robust build and efficient engine. This growth indicates Nissan’s efforts to update its offerings and adjust pricing on specific models to appeal to practical buyers. Meanwhile, Toyota Camry sales decreased from 2,648 units in January to 2,214 units in February, a decline of 19%, despite luxurious features and prices between SAR 100,000 and SAR 120,000.

On the other hand, the Ford Taurus sold 2,219 units, following a 48% increase, driven by its powerful engine, priced from SAR 130,000, and advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring.

Factors Influencing Purchase Decisions

Expert analyses indicate that competition in the sedan market depends on several key criteria. Availability of after sales services and widespread authorized service centers rank high on buyers’ priority lists, alongside spare parts pricing.

Consumers pay close attention to bank financing options and direct dealership offers, including free first week maintenance or extended warranties. Additionally, entertainment systems and driver assist technologies play a crucial role in attracting young professionals seeking a modern driving experience.

Future Outlook: Competition and Trends

Industry experts expect Korean cars to maintain momentum in the Saudi market by introducing new models with hybrid engines and mild hybrid systems that enhance fuel efficiency. In response, Japanese models such as Yaris and Camry might update their features or offer attractive purchase incentives to regain buyer interest. Fuel price fluctuations and insurance costs will also impact sales trends as consumers adjust their budgets accordingly.

With the spread of smart technologies and eco friendly options on the rise among vehicle categories, manufacturers face the challenge of balancing value pricing, material quality, and the digital experience that car enthusiasts seek throughout Saudi Arabia.
