On March 6, Toyota officially launched the bZ3X, an all-electric compact SUV in China. Available in seven different trims, it starts at just 109,800 RMB (approximately 55,560 AED), making it the most affordable Toyota electric SUV worldwide.
A Design Tailored to Chinese Consumers
The bZ3X features a split-headlight design with 240 LED units inside the headlamp assembly, capable of displaying seven unique light patterns. At the front, a full-width LED light strip and a closed-off grille give it a modern, Chinese-brand-inspired EV look. Hidden door handles enhance the sleek design, while the charging port is conveniently placed above the right front wheel arch for a clean, minimalist profile.
At the rear, a through-type taillight design and a “BEV” badge on the lower right corner of the tailgate emphasize its all-electric nature. To appeal to a wide range of buyers, the bZ3X is offered in seven body colors and three interior color schemes.
As a compact SUV, it measures 4,600mm in length, 1,850mm (or 1,875mm) in width, and 1,645mm (or 1,660mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765mm. The top-tier model comes with 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, while other variants are equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the bZ3X is designed to suit Chinese consumer preferences, featuring a dual-layer dashboard, a 14.6-inch floating center touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel—all standard across all models. The color scheme and design echo the aesthetics of popular Chinese-brand EVs.
Toyota’s Most Advanced Intelligent Vehicle
The two high-end trims of the bZ3X come equipped with the Momenta 5.0 advanced intelligent driving system and the NVIDIA Orin-X chip, delivering up to 254 TOPS of computing power. The system is supported by a 126-line LiDAR, 11 high-definition cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 3 millimeter-wave radars—totaling 27 perception hardware units. These enable advanced driving features such as intelligent navigation assistance (for highways and urban roads), smart parking, obstacle avoidance, and pre-collision safety systems.
Despite its cutting-edge technology, the bZ3X keeps smart driving affordable, with intelligent driving models starting at just 139,800 RMB.
For in-car technology, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset, supporting multi-zone voice recognition, voice-controlled vehicle functions, smart online navigation, intelligent scene modes, digital key access, and OTA remote updates.
Up to 610km of Driving Range
The bZ3X is a front-wheel-drive electric SUV available with two single-motor powertrain options, delivering either 150kW or 165kW of maximum power. Buyers can choose from three battery pack options: 50kWh, 58.3kWh, and 67.9kWh. Under the CLTC testing cycle, these configurations offer driving ranges of 430km, 520km, and 610km, respectively.
Conclusion
With its modern design tailored to Chinese consumers, Toyota’s advanced autonomous driving system (developed in collaboration with Momenta), and cutting-edge smart features, the bZ3X aligns with the latest trends in the Chinese EV market. Its competitive pricing further reinforces Toyota’s strong commitment to the growing demand for electric vehicles in China.
