The highly anticipated Mitsubishi XForce HEV, an all-new B-SUV, is set to make its world debut at the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show. Enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting its unveiling, which is scheduled to take place from March 24 (media session) to April 6, 2025.
Unlike the version previously launched in overseas markets, the Thai variant of the Mitsubishi XForce HEV features several modifications to both the powertrain and design details. It is equipped with a newly developed HEV hybrid powertrain, combining a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor. Unlike the foreign model, which runs solely on gasoline, this new hybrid system enhances power delivery while optimizing fuel efficiency.
The model is also said to offer seven driving modes to cope with different road conditions:
Normal Mode: for balanced daily driving.
Wet Mode: Designed for wet and rainy roads, effectively preventing skidding.
Gravel Mode: Enhances stability and safety on gravel roads.
Tarmac Mode: For paved roads, combining power output and maneuverability.
Mud Mode: Optimizes response and handling in muddy conditions.
EV Mode: For purely electric driving.
EV Charge Mode: Recharges the battery while driving.
In terms of design, the Thai version retains the overall aesthetic of the overseas model with a few refined details. The new 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels feature an Aerowheel Cover design that enhances both appearance and aerodynamics, reducing wind resistance and improving fuel efficiency. Additionally, the placement of the HEV logo has been specially optimized to align with the vehicle's refined design language.
In terms of body dimensions, the key figures for the Mitsubishi XForce HEV are:
Length: 4,390 mm
Width: 1,810 mm
Height: 1,660 mm
Wheelbase: 2,650 mm
Minimum ground clearance: 222 mm
Overall mass: 1,245 kilograms
Compared to its class competitor, the Toyota Yaris Cross (dimensions 4,310 x 1,770 x 1,615 mm, wheelbase 2,620 mm), the XForce HEV has a slight advantage in terms of length and height, and a slight disadvantage in terms of wheelbase. The vehicle's off-road performance is also impressive, with an approach angle of 21.0°, a departure angle of 30.5° and a passing angle of 20.5°, ensuring that the vehicle is able to cope with complex road conditions.
In terms of features and equipment, the model is based on the Indonesian XForce Exceed 1.5 CVT and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED front and rear headlamps, Active Yaw Control, black leather upholstery, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster with an integrated center display, and an 8-inch infotainment system. It also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold, automatic anti-glare mirrors, and advanced safety features such as 4 airbags, Automatic Emergency Braking, Active Cruise Control, Automatic High and Low Beams, Front Vehicle Departure Alert, Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
The XForce Ultimate 1.5 CVT version further elevates luxury with additional features, including automatic headlamp activation, a power tailgate with kick sensing, four driving modes (Normal, Wet, Gravel, Mud), new interior color options in Black & White Melange and Mocha Brown, an 8-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch center display, wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity, a Yamaha Premium audio system, ambient lighting, wireless charging, a Nanoe X air purification system, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
The Mitsubishi XForce HEV will be available in six exterior colors: Quartz White Pearl, Blade Silver Metallic, Graphite Grey, Jet Black Metallic, Red Metallic, and Energetic Yellow Metallic. These options cater to consumers looking for a stylish and personalized vehicle.
