On February 17th, new aerial footage of Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory surfaced online, revealing a camouflaged test vehicle. Many speculate this could be Tesla’s highly anticipated budget-friendly model—the Model 2, codenamed Project Redwood.

Elon Musk previously described the Model 2 as a “mini” version of the Model Y, and from the footage, it certainly looks the part. Its smaller, familiar shape makes the speculation even more convincing.

Rumors suggest the Model 2 will be far more capable than the Cybercab, which is limited to city roads. It’s expected to feature a 54kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated range of 402 kilometers. With its larger size and rear seats, it could be a strong competitor in its segment.

Meanwhile, drone footage shows Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory buzzing with activity, including major expansions to production lines and the paint shop. While these upgrades might be for the 2026 Model Y Juniper, there’s also a chance they’re preparing for Model 2 pilot production.

All eyes are on Tesla—let’s see what unfolds!
