The transmission of the Nissan X-Trail is domestically produced and primarily functions to fix or shift gears to change the gear ratio between the output and input shafts, also known as the gearbox.
The transmission consists of a transmission mechanism and a control mechanism, with some models also equipped with a power output mechanism.
Generally, the transmission mechanism uses ordinary gear transmission, and some use planetary gear transmission. The ordinary gear transmission mechanism typically utilizes sliding gears and synchronizers.
Regarding transmission maintenance, first, if the gear meshing area is subjected to significant impact resulting in small breakage on the tooth edge not exceeding 2mm, it can be repaired with an oil stone and continue to be used; if it exceeds this range or has more than three small breakages, it should be replaced in pairs.
Second, the common meshing helical tooth end face should maintain an axial clearance of 0.10-0.30mm to ensure good gear operation; if the tooth end is severely worn, it can be ground for repair, but the grinding amount should not exceed 0.50mm, otherwise, replacement is necessary.
Lastly, the wear of the common meshing gear shaft neck, needle bearing, and bore needs to be checked, with the fit clearance between the engaged gear bore and the needle bearing and shaft neck being 0.01-0.08mm, otherwise, replacement is required.
The differential of the Nissan X-Trail uses transmission oil, and the working principle of the rear differential allows the left and right (or front and rear) drive wheels to rotate at different speeds, ensuring pure rolling motion of the wheels during turns or on uneven surfaces.
The steps for changing the differential oil include: lifting the vehicle and placing a container underneath to catch the waste oil; using appropriate tools to remove the gearbox casing, taking care of any oil that may spill; once the waste oil has drained, carefully remove the oil pan and clean the surrounding area; then install the cleaned oil pan and gasket, adding original factory oil. The oil level can be checked through the observation hole to ensure it is sufficiently filled.
