Previous reports indicated that Dodge's L platform has officially ceased operations, with the final models of the Dodge Challenger and Charger having rolled off the assembly line on December 22 last year in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Meanwhile, the last batch of Chrysler 300 models was completed on December 20 last year.
The last Dodge Challenger was in a dark black color, named Glorious Pitch Black SRT Demon 170. The last Charger was named Destroyer Gray Scat Pack Widebody.
Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300 will now make way for Stellantis's new electric vehicle lineup. After nearly 20 years of production, the entire family has certainly achieved significant success, but their departure will be a lamentable loss.
Previously, inside sources confirmed that the SRT Demon 170 will feature a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 engine capable of producing up to 1025 horsepower on E85 fuel, and it can cover a quarter-mile in just 8.9 seconds.
Despite entering production in 2005, vehicles based on the 'L Car' platform have shown remarkable longevity. Throughout its lifespan, a total of 4.3 million units have been sold.
These sales figures clearly indicate that this series of models has received favorable feedback in the market. The discontinuation of the L platform marks these models as a part of history, yet it does not prevent us from continuing to admire them.
