Renault is charging full speed into the future by blending heritage with high voltage innovation. The French automaker has just unveiled the production version of its most powerful model ever, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E. Inspired by the concept first revealed last year, this electrified hot hatch reinvents the genre with a dramatic and aggressive new design that pays homage to the past while embracing a bold electric future.
Track Ready Engineering and Unmatched Electric Power
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E ditches its practical roots in favor of pure performance. Unlike the classic five seat Renault 5, the 3E version features a two door, two seat layout designed entirely with sportiness in mind. The transformation goes deeper under the skin, too. Gone is the familiar front wheel drive setup, replaced by a rear wheel drive system that delivers precise control and a true racing inspired experience behind the wheel.
What truly sets this car apart is its dual electric motor setup, delivering a combined output of 536 horsepower. For a compact hatchback, that number alone is impressive. Even more staggering is the 4800 Nm of torque, which is measured at the wheels, giving it explosive launches and razor sharp responsiveness during aggressive maneuvers. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E can rocket from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, while its top speed hits 270 km/h. Thanks to a well optimized battery system, the car also boasts a driving range of nearly 400 kilometers on a full charge.
Lightweight Build and Lightning Fast Charging
Despite packing serious power, Renault has kept weight under control. The car tips the scales at just 1450 kilograms, thanks to a widespread use of carbon fiber throughout both the body and the interior. Another highlight is the car’s all new 800 volt electric architecture, which supports incredibly fast charging speeds. Owners will be able to recharge up to 65 percent of the battery in just 15 minutes, making it one of the quickest charging EVs in its segment.
Renault is planning to open orders for the Turbo 3E in just a few weeks, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027. The launch will target key regions including Europe, the Middle East, and Japan. Production will be limited to just 1980 units, a symbolic nod to the debut year of the original Renault 5 Turbo. With this exclusive release, Renault is not just reviving a legend but pushing it to new heights with modern electric performance.
