According to Japanese media reports, Mazda has registered five new trademarks in Japan, signaling its plans for the future of electric vehicles.

Mazda has filed trademark applications for five new names: Mazda 2e, Mazda 3e, Mazda 6e, CX-5e, and CX-6e. In addition to the EZ-6 / Mazda 6e, which has already been introduced in China and Europe, these new trademarks suggest a broader lineup of upcoming models. The “e” in each name strongly indicates that they will be electric vehicles.

While further details about these trademarks remain unknown, Mazda’s 2030 Management Plan, announced in November last year, confirms that the company will prioritize electrification and carbon neutrality over the next five years. This strategy is divided into three phases:

  1. Accelerated Electrification

  2. Electrification Transition

  3. Full Electrification

Mazda aims for electric vehicles to account for 25% to 40% of total sales by 2030..

he company’s vehicle roadmap includes a gradual shift toward electrification, starting with MHEV (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles), HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicles), and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles). Between 2025 and 2027, during the second phase, Mazda plans to accelerate electrification, including launching an EV-specific platform and introducing a new-generation CX-5 with a petrol-electric powertrain this year.

In the final phase, from 2028 to 2030, Mazda will focus entirely on pure electric vehicles and significantly increase its investment in battery production.
