There are three main methods for changing the automatic transmission oil in the Nissan Sylphy.
The first method is similar to changing engine oil, where you open the transmission drain plug to drain old oil and then refill it with new oil. The second method involves removing the oil pan to drain and refill the oil. The third method uses a flushing machine, which is a more advanced technique.
The first two methods are widely used because they are cost-effective and do not require special equipment, but they have a drawback in that they cannot completely replace the transmission oil, a limitation addressed by the flushing machine.
The flushing machine uses pressure generated by machines to dynamically replace the transmission fluid, achieving an oil change rate of over 80%, and is simple to operate, although it requires equipment support.
Additionally, traditional gravity methods can only change about half of the old oil, while the flushing machine can replace it more thoroughly, thus extending the maintenance interval for the transmission fluid.
Under normal circumstances, the CVT fluid in the Sylphy is maintenance-free for life, but in practice, service centers usually recommend changing it every 100,000 kilometers. The official warranty period for the Sylphy is three years or 100,000 kilometers, with the first and second maintenance services being free of charge and service intervals set at 5,000 kilometers.
Comprehensive maintenance checks are required at 20,000, 40,000, and 60,000 kilometers. It is important to note that the first maintenance service at 1,000 kilometers is primarily to check the operation of various components and tighten any loose screws, while the 5,000-kilometer service involves the first formal oil and filter change.
