In Saudi Arabia, the transport authority has announced the approval of the operating license for the Riyadh Metro, covering the red and green lines. This initiative aims to provide innovative transportation solutions to improve the quality of life and facilitate commuting for residents in the capital.

New Lines Open for Riyadh Metro
The operators of the Riyadh Metro include FLO and Metro Capital Kamco. As part of the Royal Commission's plan for the city of Riyadh, a phased operation of the metro project has commenced, with the addition of two operational lines today, resulting in a total of five lines operational, ensuring integrated service for all users across the capital.

The red line features several key stations: King Saud University Station, King Saud University – King Salman Oasis Station, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology Station, Garage Technology Station, Ministry of Education Metro Station, National Water Company Metro Station, Riyadh International Exhibition Center Metro Station, and King Fahd Stadium Metro Station.
The orange line includes the Courts Station and the Palace Station.
Additionally, the blue line connects multiple critical locations: Saudi British Bank Tower, Al Habib Hospital, Financial Center, Al Muruj Station, King Fahd Station 1, King Fahd Station 2, STC Station, Al Wurood 2 Station, Al Urooba Station, Alinma Bank Station, Al Bilad Bank Station, King Fahd Office Station, and many others.

The Riyadh Metro project was officially launched on 27 November 2024, not only to alleviate growing traffic congestion, but also in response to Saudi Arabia's commitment to sustainable development as outlined in its Vision 2030, which is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia.
