The current Cadillac XT5 has been on sale since the 2017 model year, making it one of the oldest vehicles in its segment.

Cadillac hasn't indicated whether a new generation is planned for the U.S., but over in China a new XT5 will be launched shortly.

The first photos are already up on Cadillac's Chinese website and reveal a handsome exterior design clearly inspired by the Lyriq. The interior design also takes cues from the Lyriq, with its 33-inch curved display, steering wheel, and center console all looking like they've been lifted straight out of the electric crossover.

No specifications have been announced, but information and photos from the website of the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology indicate that the new XT5 will be bigger than the current model, with its length allegedly coming in almost three inches longer at 192.4 inches.

Information about a 2.0-liter turbo-4 delivering 227 hp to the front wheels as standard, and to all four with an available all-wheel-drive system was also included on the website.

Cadillac sells some vehicles in China that aren't offered in the U.S., including a redesigned CT6 full-size sedan. However, there's a good chance the new XT5 reaches these shores.

Cadillac in 2021 announced plans to only launch electric vehicles in the U.S., though some automakers are backtracking on such commitments as demand for EVs slows, including Cadillac. The brand's chief, John Roth, told reporters in May that gas-powered Cadillacs will likely still be on sale next decade. And despite its age, the current XT5 still delivers solid sales here, averaging over 25,000 units annually since the start of the pandemic. Cadillac is unlikely to throw those sales away.

The current XT5 is still available for the 2025 model year, meaning the new XT5, if offered here, is likely to arrive as a 2026 model, at the earliest.
