After a whirlwind tour across the United States, Bugatti's new supercar, the Tourbillon, has made its way to East Asia, captivating customers, media, and fans, particularly during its showcases in Japan and Singapore. These exhibitions mark another chapter in the global debut of the vehicle, as Bugatti continues to build interest ahead of production and customer deliveries in 2026.
In designing and engineering this successor to the iconic Chiron, Bugatti had the option to take the easy route and use the same platform and W16 engine as the Chiron. They had done so previously with the Veyron when it was replaced by the Chiron. But with Mate Rimac now at the helm, Bugatti decided to start from scratch, creating a dedicated platform and a new V16 engine from Cosworth for its new supercar.
The design of the Bugatti Tourbillon is markedly different from previous Chiron models, yet it remains instantly recognizable as a Bugatti. The vehicle features sleek lines and improved aerodynamics, infused with engineering touches inspired by East Asia. During its time in Japan, the car was showcased at the historic Kashihara Jingu Shrine and the Aburadashi Miso, a structure dating back to 1868.
Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti, stated, “Japan’s relationship with Bugatti runs deeper than mere admiration.” He added, “With over 25 Bugatti models gracing Japanese roads, the country has established itself as an important home for the brand. Japanese collectors, renowned for their distinct taste and appreciation for exclusivity, embody the notion that Bugatti creations are more than mere vehicles; they are masterpieces deserving admiration and respect.”
Bugatti will not begin delivering the Tourbillon to customers until 2026 and will continue to test and refine the vehicle. At the heart of the new supercar lies an 8.3-liter V16 engine that revs up to 9000 rpm, producing 986 horsepower. While this engine alone is impressive, it is paired with three electric motors, raising the total output to 1775 horsepower.
