Although the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is set to debut soon, the sleek sedan will not be present at this week’s MONDIAL DE L'AUTO 2024. Therefore, BMW has a limited presence at the ninetieth edition of the event held in the capital of France. Instead, BMW will unveil the Vision Neue Klasse concept models for the first time, showcasing both sedan and crossover versions in one location.
Despite the sedan being introduced ahead of the crossover, it is the crossover that BMW will put into production first. The next generation iX3 will enter the production line in the second half of 2025. Unlike the discontinued CLAR models manufactured in China, its successor will be built in the new factory in Debrecen, Hungary. The sedan will follow later in 2026 from the Munich factory in Germany.
These vehicles are just two of many electric cars built on the dedicated Neue Klasse platform expected to enter production by 2028. The identities of other models have yet to be disclosed. However, it is believed that there will be i3 Touring and iX4 versions, along with at least one model specifically for China.
The Vision Neue Klasse vehicles share the spotlight at the Paris Motor Show with a pair of new Mini cars. The BMW Group's booth at the event covers an area of 1300 square meters, enough to host all the electric vehicles currently offered by both the BMW and Mini brands.
