Mercedes-Benz has officially released spy shots of the upcoming GLC EV. Set to replace the EQC, this next-generation model will feature cutting-edge EQ technology, an 800V architecture, and both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) options. Expected competitors include the upcoming BMW iX3 and the updated Tesla Model Y, with a market launch anticipated in 2026.

Sleek and Modern Design

The GLC EV will introduce a completely fresh design, appearing sleeker and more elongated than its predecessor. A closed-off front grille with an illuminated Mercedes-Benz logo will enhance its futuristic appeal. At the rear, redesigned round taillights feature an embedded Mercedes-Benz emblem, while the license plate is positioned below the tailgate. Additional design highlights include flush door handles, newly styled alloy wheels, and a functional roof rack.

Powertrain and Efficiency Upgrades

Built on the advanced MB.EA platform, the GLC EV will incorporate Mercedes’ latest EQ technology, offering both RWD and AWD configurations with a two-speed gearbox. The AWD variant will feature a smart disengagement system, allowing it to switch to RWD when extra traction isn’t needed—improving energy efficiency. The vehicle will also include a next-generation braking system with enhanced regenerative braking for maximum range optimization.

800V Charging – Three Times Faster than the EQC

With its 800V electrical system, the GLC EV will support ultra-fast charging at up to 320 kW—three times faster than the discontinued EQC, which peaked at 110 kW.

Buyers will have multiple battery options, with the top-tier variant featuring a high-energy-density silicon-oxide and graphite anode, enabling longer range and better performance.

Standard Heat Pump for Optimal Efficiency

A heat pump will come standard in the GLC EV, improving efficiency by utilizing waste heat from the drivetrain, battery, and ambient air. This system also preheats the battery for optimal charging performance in all weather conditions.

Competing in a Crowded Market
