BYD has launched the Han L Sedan alongside the Tang L SUV during an event in China on April 9. The Han L is available in both hybrid and fully electric versions. BYD offers three trims of the fully electric Han L EV, a mid to large-sized sedan measuring 5050 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, and 1505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2970 mm.
These editions are powered by BYD's new batteries with a capacity of 83.2 kWh, offering a driving range of either 701 km or 601 km according to CTLC.
The car is designed on BYD's high-voltage electric platform, operating at 1000 volts. It features simultaneous charging technology with two charging ports that can support a maximum current of 10C. The Han L EV can gain an electric range of up to 400 kilometers with just a five-minute charge, and it can charge from 10% to 70% in just six minutes according to BYD. A full charge from 0% to 100% takes about 20 minutes.
The base models of the BYD Han L EV come with a single motor and rear-wheel drive, producing a maximum power of around 500 kW (approximately 670 hp) at 30,511 rpm. The maximum torque is 420 Nm, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.5 seconds.
The top model features dual motors; the front motor generates a maximum power of 230 kW (equivalent to 308 hp) with maximum torque of 410 Nm at 21,500 rpm. The rear motor delivers up to 580 kW (equivalent to 778 hp), with maximum torque reaching 450 Nm at 30,511 rpm.
This results in a total output of about 1086 hp and torque of around 860 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.7 seconds.
The BYD Han L EV comes equipped with BYD's God's Eye B system for intelligent driving assistance, including autonomous driving capabilities and advanced LiDAR technology for accident avoidance. It also features the NOA intelligent navigation system convenient for cities.
The hybrid version, Han L DM, shares the same dimensions as its electric counterpart and is available with either one or two electric motors. It is based on BYD's DM-p hybrid drivetrain technology and features a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine.
Like the electric version, the two standard variants come with a single electric motor. They have a maximum power output of about 268 hp and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in approximately 6.9 seconds.
In the higher model with dual motors, an additional rear electric motor provides another power output of up to about 200 kW or 268 hp, resulting in an acceleration time from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) of 3.9 seconds. With a battery pack capacity of 29.4kWh, the electric driving range is between 180km and 200 km. The total range combined is approximately 1200 km. The hybrid version is also kitted with advanced driving assistance technologies like the EV version. As of now, the pricing for Middle East market is not yet available as the car has been recently launched in China and hasn’t arrived to our markets yet.
