Maybach stands as the flagship brand of Mercedes-Benz, symbolizing luxury, exclusivity, and elegance, allowing this German automaker to compete with Bentley and Rolls-Royce. Currently, Maybach has three models, which positions the brand well in the market. However, there are plans to target a higher level by offering a range of extremely exclusive and custom-designed vehicles.
A senior company official, who wished to remain unnamed, stated that Maybach will elevate to the next level. He said: “This is why we will transform Maybach into a high-end Mercedes, taking customization to a whole new level.”
Soon, the “Mercedes-Maybach S-Class,” “GLS,” and “EQS SUV” will join the “Myth” and “Legend” series. They are classified as limited production or one-of-a-kind highly exclusive vehicles available on demand. The first model expected to arrive is the Maybach SL. This car is based on the current Mercedes-AMG SL, and Maybach is likely to transform this two-seater sports car into a GT model targeting comfort and luxury. Mercedes teased the Maybach SL over a year ago as well.
Chief Designer Gordon Wagner stated that the Maybach SL will be “for customers who desire an advanced luxurious driving and design experience.” This car will provide the German brand with a competitor available for the Continental GT Mulliner.
The unique Maybach models will not only feature glossy paint and softer leather but also exclusive “custom-made” structures and body panels. These vehicles are not expected to be as custom-made as Rolls-Royce’s Droptail models.
Maybach's introduction will push the company beyond Bentley and closer to Rolls-Royce. With prices exceeding one million dollars, these vehicles will focus on exclusivity, performance, and luxury. Mercedes is also looking to enhance its self-driving programs and aims for rapid charging of electric vehicles in five minutes or less.
Maybach has many ideas, including a version with gullwing doors inspired by the Mercedes 300SL Coupe. They are also planning a four-door coupe and a shooting brake version of the EQS alongside the Maybach Vision 2 with a long wheelbase.
