In Saudi Arabia, the traffic department conducted an in-depth analysis of the causes of traffic accidents in the Asir region for 2023, highlighting that the use of mobile phones is one of the main reasons for these accidents.
The following are the three main causes of traffic accidents in Asir:
1- Drivers holding mobile phones while driving.
2- Not maintaining a safe distance from the vehicles ahead.
3- Violating right-of-way rules.
The Saudi traffic department warns that failing to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles while driving is a traffic violation, with fines starting at 150 Riyals and rising to 300 Riyals.
Moreover, it indicates that distractions while driving are extremely dangerous, posing risks of accidents to the driver and those around them. Therefore, using a mobile phone while driving is considered a traffic violation, with fines ranging from 500 to 900 Riyals.
