The classic Land Rover Defender V8 is like an elder who has weathered the storm, still shining with an unwavering brilliance in modern society. Although the original Defender ceased production in 2016, it continues to captivate car enthusiasts around the globe. To meet the demand for unique custom designs, Land Rover resurrected this classic model through its Works Bespoke division, endowing it with contemporary features and endless customization options.
The Defender V8 draws inspiration from vehicles produced between 2012 and 2016, and all orders will be based on these classic models, undergoing manual refurbishment to breathe new life into them. Each vehicle will undergo hundreds of hours of meticulous rebuilding and engineering design to ensure optimal appearance and performance.
The body color can be selected without limits according to customer preferences, including traditional Heritage series, Contemporary series, and Premium metallic paints, with even sample matching available. The roof can be painted in a contrasting color, with silver or black exterior accents. Additionally, Land Rover offers various grille styles, allowing the Defender to navigate seamlessly between modernity and classic aesthetics.
In terms of performance, the Defender V8 utilizes 16-inch Wolf tires or 18-inch Sawtooth tires, with the exterior optionally equipped with side steps, roof racks, and LED lighting. Customers can also choose the Adventure Pack with a rooftop tent or the more comprehensive Ply Guys Camper system, transforming the Defender into a true camping vehicle.
The interior is adorned with luxurious leather, available in up to five single-color and eight two-tone options. Owners can choose between luxurious seating and more supportive Recaro seats, while the central console retains its classic look, featuring a new 3.5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, navigation, and DAB radio functions. Land Rover has also redesigned the gear selector and added stylish glossy black accents.
On the powertrain front, the new Defender versions will be equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine, producing a maximum output of 400 horsepower and torque reaching 515 Nm, with power transmitted through an exclusive 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF to all-wheel drive. This powerful powertrain not only retains the classic charm of the Defender but also leads the way in performance.
The suspension system has also been thoughtfully upgraded, featuring modified Eibach springs, stabilizer bars, and Bilstein shock absorbers, significantly enhancing ride comfort. Ultimately, the Defender is equipped with performance-oriented Alcon four-piston brake systems with larger discs on both axles, ensuring stability and safety in driving.
However, this classic version of the Defender V8 comes at a hefty price, with the four-seat 90 model starting at $251,345, the five-seat 110 model starting at $263,090, and the seven-seat 110 model starting at $269,700, excluding taxes or any options.
