In its promotional campaign for the latest model, Kia has released more exciting videos of the Kia Serus SUV, confirming that its global debut will take place in India on December 19. This new compact SUV is known for its unique design and innovative seating arrangement, closely resembling a microvan, and comes loaded with features, ready to fill the gap between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia's lineup. Kia aims to expand its market presence in the region further with the Serus, continuing its tradition of naming models that start with the letter 'S', with the name Serus deriving from a Greek island in the Aegean Sea.
The new Serus features a design similar to the Kia Carnival, with a sleek roofline and vertical tailgate, and incorporates design inspirations from the Hyundai Casper and Venue. It boasts LED headlights and L-shaped taillights encircling the rear glass, showcasing a new design language that diverges from traditional styles. Inside, the Serus is designed with luxury in mind, featuring innovative seating arrangements and expected to include a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, power-adjustable seats, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, six airbags, and a host of advanced safety features.
The Kia Serus will be offered with two non-electric engines, including a 1-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine, with rumors suggesting a fully electric version may join the lineup in the future. Power will be transmitted to the front axle via a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
