Jeep's strategy for electric vehicles is steadily coming into focus, with the electric version of the Jeep leading the way, particularly the model named 'Recon', which will serve as the electric counterpart to the traditional Jeep Wrangler. This model aims to seamlessly blend robust off-road capabilities with zero-emission performance. Although its arrival was anticipated in 2022, recent spy shots suggest that we may have to wait a bit longer for the final production version.

Spy photographers have captured three prototypes of the Jeep Recon undergoing testing, giving us the clearest look yet at its production-ready design. The vehicles spotted in various colors and simple sporty camouflage remain true to the prototype that debuted in 2023. The boxy design and off-road touches are in line with the designs from the official announcement in September 2022.Jeep's Electric Off-Roader is Coming Clearly, Jeep is determined to keep the Recon true to its off-road roots, as evidenced by its large 17-inch wheels with all-terrain Nexen Roadian ATX tires, complemented by a full-size spare mounted on the rear door. Its rugged design incorporates signature Jeep features such as removable doors, exposed hinges, and bright blue tow hooks. However, there are some differences from the Wrangler, including the bulging integrated fenders reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender and square LED headlights at both ends. Overall, it looks like an adventure-ready electric vehicle.Jeep's Electric Off-Roader is Coming The Recon will support the STLA large platform, a versatile electric platform from Stellantis. While Jeep has not yet disclosed specific specifications, some hints can be drawn from the Jeep Wagoneer S, which features a 600-horsepower electric motor and a 100-kilowatt-hour battery. The Recon will feature off-road technology to compete with the Wrangler, including an electronic locking differential and Jeep's Selec-Terrain traction management system.
