In the upcoming year of 2025, Isuzu is expected to unveil a fully electric version of the D-Max. However, before this mid-size truck hits the market, a new power option has already arrived in Thailand.

The D-Max and its closely related counterpart, the MU-X, are now equipped with a new mild hybrid diesel engine that promises enhanced performance and fuel economy. This 2.2-liter turbocharged hybrid diesel engine, codenamed RZ4F, produces a robust 161 horsepower and a torque of 400 Nm.

Isuzu claims that this engine operates more quietly, boasts improved combustion efficiency, and features a unique turbocharger. However, details about the electric motor and the 48-volt battery have yet to be disclosed. The new 2.2-liter engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, contributing to improved performance and efficiency.
