In another article two days ago, I mentioned Nissan's plans to recover from its current situation. Nissan has suffered several blows, including the Carlos Ghosn affair, as well as its exposure to fierce competition from the Chinese electric vehicle market and its inability to keep pace with the rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape.
Of course, since Infiniti is the brand that offers Nissan's luxury versions, it must have suffered alongside them and shared their recovery plans. In the previous article, we mentioned that Nissan plans to launch more than 18 new models next year. As for Infiniti, it is also preparing to launch new electric vehicles.
Among its new models is the Infiniti QX65, the coupe version of the seven-seat QX60. First, the Infiniti QX60 will launch in 2025, with a Sport package for the QX80. The QX65 coupe will follow in 2026, as a sportier version of the QX60. In 2028, Infiniti will launch an electric SUV, but the launch of an electric sedan is likely postponed until further notice.
Thus, Infiniti has followed in the footsteps of its parent company, Nissan, in teasing the imminent launch of a series of new models. As for the Infiniti QX60, which was launched in 2021, we expect it to receive a simple facelift at the front, along with a few other minor exterior modifications. The difference may not be big, but it is to keep the SUV stylish and keep up with the design trends. The QX65, which we expect in 2026, will feature slim, separate LED headlights and a sleek coupe roof reminiscent of the Infiniti FX's aesthetic. As it's identified as the sports coupe version of the QX60, it's likely to feature the same engine: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 268 horsepower.
As for the Infiniti QX80, Infiniti hasn't revealed what modifications will be included in the facelift version or how sportier it will be, as it's preparing to launch it with a sports package. However, we expect it to feature a sharper, more aggressive design and a stronger presence, befitting it being in the Middle East.
Infiniti also announced the launch of an all-electric SUV, apparently the production version of the Vision QX Inspiration concept from 2019. The new model is scheduled to launch in 2028 and will feature Infiniti's latest "Artistry in Motion" design language, along with a host of impressive technical features in the press release.
The electric sedan, based on the Vision Qe concept, didn't appear in the press release. Initially, this model was supposed to debut before the SUV, but it appears Infiniti preferred to launch the SUV first, as it would be one of its saving graces in the market, especially since its SUVs are popular, particularly in the Middle East. It preferred to leave the sedan for a later date.
It has become well known that an electric family SUV is a powerful way to boost a company's sales. Consider McLaren, which is now trying to create an SUV that appeals to SUV enthusiasts in the Middle East and boosts its sales after the devastating blows it suffered from the electric vehicle market.
