Honda is doubling down on its electric future, and it looks promising. After twelve months of anticipation, the Japanese automaker has confirmed plans to showcase two new electric prototype models at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The teaser image gives a glimpse of these two prototypes. On the left, there is a car that almost resembles last year’s Saloon EV Concept, retaining distinctive design elements such as the intricate LED taillight, illuminated Honda badge, and the slim brake light mounted on the diffuser. However, Honda describes it as a 'prototype' rather than a test model this time, indicating that it is a refined version. The details remain murky, so we will have to wait for its debut at CES to see how Honda has polished the design and engineering.
Next to it, the prototype from the 0 Series might be even more intriguing. This SUV sports a boxy shape and appears large, potentially comparable in size to the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9. It seems to lack traditional side mirrors, features a long wheelbase, and has a nearly vertical rear window adorned with an LED light strip. Additionally, there are two extra lights toward the bottom of the rear bumper.
Last year, Honda teased glimpses of new cars that will be part of the 0 Series family. A mid-size SUV and a base SUV along with a sedan are set to launch in 2026, followed by a large three-row SUV in 2027, a compact SUV in 2028, and a small SUV in the works for 2029. By 2030, Honda plans to launch seven 0 Series vehicles globally.
Moreover, Honda will not limit itself to these two models at CES. The Japanese brand will also introduce a new vehicle operating system specifically designed for its future electric cars, alongside advancements in autonomous driving technologies.
