The Geely Cowboy, a brand-new multi-purpose SUV, has recently rolled off the production line in China. Its design inspiration comes from the Geely Icon, and its appearance has been enhanced with various off-road package combinations. It is expected to be officially launched later this year, with a price anticipated to be under 100,000 RMB, approximately 14,000 USD. Meanwhile, the existing Geely Icon is priced between 96,900 to 116,900 RMB, equivalent to 13,600 to 16,400 USD.
In September, Geely Icon sold only 465 units, marking a year-on-year decline of 72.6% and a month-on-month decline of 41.1%, representing just 0.54% of Geely's monthly sales and ranking 210th in China's SUV sales. From January to September 2024, the cumulative sales of Geely Icon reached 6,888 units.
In terms of exterior design, Geely Cowboy exhibits the robust characteristics of SUVs. It features a multi-layered strong front face, while the rear is equipped with a multi-faceted outer shell, complemented by a large roof rack and spotlights, further emphasizing its powerful off-road presence. The roof storage space covers 1.3 square meters, with a maximum load of 50 kg. Consumers can choose from four exterior colors: white, green, gray, and brown.
The Geely Cowboy measures 4369 or 4442 mm in length, 1860 mm in width, and 1770 mm in height, making it larger than the Geely Icon, while the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2640 mm. The side features sturdy side steps, traditional door handles, red brakes, a sloping streamlined roof, and optional AT tires for off-road use.
Powering the Geely Cowboy is a 1.5-liter TD engine with a maximum power of 133 kW (178 hp) and a peak torque of 290 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission.
Inside, the Geely Cowboy features α-shaped air conditioning vents, an integrated 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a 14.6-inch central control screen (resolution of 1920×1080). The seats are made of leather, denim, and dyed fabrics, with both the driver and front passenger seats embossed with the 'Born Free' logo.
