Ford Motor Company has recently announced four recalls affecting tens of thousands of vehicles, all unrelated issues. These recalls include models such as the Ford Mustang, F-Super Duty, Explorer, Transit, and Lincoln Aviator.
The most concerning recall is for 6,212 units of the 2024 Ford Mustang, produced between May 10, 2024, and August 20, 2024. Ford's investigation revealed that these vehicles may experience faults with their digital instrument clusters due to low voltage, corrupting the instrument programming. Ford has already recorded 58 warranty claims related to this instrument issue and has instructed dealers to update the software on the affected vehicles. Notifications to owners will be sent out later this month to help them address this issue.
The second recall is more widespread, affecting 24,950 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 trucks produced between October 4, 2022, and March 14, 2024. Ford indicates that the camera mounted at the top of the tailgate could be damaged by water and may fail when the tailgate is opened, meaning that the infotainment screen will not display an image. In this case, dealers have been directed to replace the tailgate top camera, wiring, and rear door sensor interface units for the affected vehicles free of charge. Owners will be alerted starting December 9.
Ford is also recalling 391 units of the 2025 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator, produced between May 30, 2024, and August 8, 2024, and July 18, 2024, to July 26, 2024, respectively. In this case, the rearview camera image may not remain visible if the vehicle exceeds speeds of 10 miles per hour in reverse. Ford's remedy will involve rolling out a software update wirelessly later this month.
Lastly, there is a recall affecting 2023-2024 Ford Transit vehicles assembled between May 10, 2023, and February 10, 2024. This recall includes 808 vehicles with improperly installed rear axle bolts. Inadequate engagement could lead to rear wheels locking up or separating from the axle. Ford also states that vehicles may roll while in park if the parking brake is not applied. Owners will be notified about the recall on December 9, and dealers will replace the rear axle bolts.
