Rolls-Royce is poised to create highly personalized versions of its debut electric vehicle, the 2024 Spectre coupe. As a taste of what's possible, the automaker will present a unique piece at the 2024 Monterey Car Week.
Set to debut on August 16 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, one of the main events of Monterey Car Week, the Rolls-Royce Spectre Semaphore is a private commission that introduces a unique graphic for the hood inspired by California's coastline. The name Semaphore refers to a system of visual signaling, typically with flags, but it's also used in coding.
Rolls-Royce calls the hood graphic Marbled Paint Spill, indicating that applying it took 160 hours to complete, including time for design, development, and application. It features silver lacquer over a base yellow paint, with multiple layers of clearcoat for a seamless finish.
The same colors flow into the cabin, where they are complemented by a cream hue. Rolls-Royce also incorporates some of these colors into the digital gauge cluster and on various wood accents.
Rolls-Royce stated that only one Spectre Semaphore will be built. While the automaker did not disclose the cost of the car, it is likely much more than what you can afford. The standard Spectre starts at about $422,750.
Like all Spectres, the Spectre Semaphore features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain delivering a maximum of 584 hp. It has a usable 102 kWh battery capacity with an EPA estimated range of up to 291 miles.
