According to the information, Proton officially returned to the Egyptian market back in 2018 and set up an assembly plant in a joint venture with a local company with a maximum annual capacity of 50,000 units, mainly producing low-end cheap cars Saga.
As the most populous country in the Middle East and the third-largest economy in Africa, Egypt, moreover, has become an important region for Chinese automobiles to enter the Middle East and African markets long ago due to its unique geographical advantages. Geely is the second Chinese automotive brand to invest and build a factory in Egypt after Chery.
