The electric vehicle market in China is highly competitive, and even Ford acknowledges that the U.S. is not yet ready for this level of competition. Luxeed is the latest joint venture between Huawei and Chery, focusing on electric vehicle development.
Richard Yu Chengdong, head of Huawei's automotive division, stated that the Luxeed S7 will outperform the Tesla Model S in various aspects. The S7 will boast cutting-edge technologies from both companies, its goal is to compete directly with Tesla, suggesting that the S7 has much to offer.
The Luxeed S7 should exceed 670 horsepower in its dual-motor configuration, while Tesla's Plaid version offers 1020 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.99 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric cars in the world.
The Luxeed S7 will rely on Chery's EoX platform with a dual-motor setup, and it is expected to use batteries from Chinese company CATL, which is also the battery supplier for Tesla vehicles.
The Luxeed S7 is is currently on sale and its performance in the market is not yet known. Due to U.S. government sanctions against Huawei, this electric vehicle has already been banned from entering the U.S. market; however, the S7 will still compete with Tesla in its home market of China.
