Changan Automobile has introduced a concept model called CD701, which can flexibly transform between an SUV and a pickup, demonstrating new possibilities for future mobility.
In terms of exterior design, the SUV form of the CD701 features five seats, a sloping roofline, and a traditional front design. Its uniqueness lies in the rear, equipped with a glass panel that slides upward, allowing its rear section to function like a truck bed. Although it doesn't offer as much storage space as full-size pickups like the Ford Maverick, it can still accommodate some longer items.
Images of the vehicle show that it can easily carry a surfboard, and other pictures suggest that this model is suitable for camping and other outdoor activities.
Moreover, the sides are designed with hidden door handles and cameras instead of traditional side mirrors, adding a sleek touch to the side profile, contrasting well with the wheel design. Noteworthy details include a circular LED light strip that spans the entire width of the rear.
The vehicle is based on Changan's new electric platform, SDA, though no power figures have been released yet. However, it features all the characteristics of modern electric SUVs, similar to the Tesla Model Y. The interior is simple, equipped with a large touch screen and a head-up display. The CD701 is expected to launch as a production model next year, possibly named “E0”.
