Causes and solutions for soft brakes in Highlander:

1. Intake of air in the brake fluid line. Brake fluid, as the medium for the braking system, will show insufficient pressure if air enters the line, leading to reduced maximum braking force. At this point, it is essential to visit a repair shop for brake system bleeding. To determine if air has entered the brake fluid line, press the brake pedal several times in the off state until it becomes firm, then hold it down. If the pedal remains firm, it is normal; if it slowly sinks, it indicates air in the brake system.

2. Brake fluid not replaced for a long time. If brake fluid is not replaced timely, it will contain too many impurities and moisture, affecting the transmission of braking force. Therefore, it is necessary to replace the brake fluid regularly and, if possible, test the moisture content at a repair shop.

3. Oil leakage or soft brake materials. Generally, leakage from the brake master cylinder or brake fluid line will cause the brakes to feel soft, and if the brake materials are too soft, their thermal stability will decrease, which will also cause soft braking.
