In the realm of modified Mercedes G-Wagens, Carlex Design stands out with a distinct approach that exudes a different kind of charm.
First spotted by The Drive, the Carlex G-Vintage resembles a modern G-Class filtered through a pastel retro lens. Unlike those trying to mimic the background vehicles of low-budget action films, this G-Class features a white roof and whitewall tires, with a vibrant color palette offering options like Lime Pop, Champagne Fizz, and Raspberry Punch.

According to Carlex's website, the G-Vintage rides on a "raised and widened suspension," complemented by 20-inch wheels that resemble enlarged versions of 1970s-era Mercedes passenger car wheels. Other exterior modifications include a body kit and a Mercedes hood ornament, compensating for Carlex's replacement of the three-pointed star in the grille with its own logo.
The interior is dressed in vintage leather in various hues, showcasing a distressed look rarely seen in car interiors. Carlex's website also showcases a wood decking option for the cargo area.
For Carlex, creating an interior that feels like a literal land yacht isn't too far-fetched. The company also produced a one-off AMG G 63 known as the G-Falcon, featuring a custom roof with a giant engraving of the eponymous bird. Furthermore, it engineered a 6x6 version of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class, among other wild upgrades for that truck, which was never sold in the U.S.
As for the G-Class itself, it receives notable updates for the 2025 model year. An all-electric version joins the lineup, while other models downsize to inline-6 powertrains. The G 63 retains its V-8 but adds an active anti-roll system, enhancing off-road stability and on-road comfort.
