Dining tables, screens replacing mirrors, high quality leather seats, and a car that dances and spins… Yes, it's the BYD Yangwang U7.
Today, on March 27, BYD officially launched this car, and sales have begun. Priced at approximately $86,430, it's BYD's latest invention to deal a severe blow to European luxury cars. It's as if to say, "Yes, I can make premium leather seats, set up dining tables, use more screens than you, and even make my car jump like a Mercedes GLS, all for half the price. Can you do it?"
On top of that, it's also added high performance. The car is available in a BEV version, as well as a hybrid PHEV version, with multiple seating options.
The five-seat version is priced at $86,413, whether electric or hybrid, while the four-seat version is priced at $97,420, also hybrid or electric. You might wonder why removing a seat costs more money? Of course, my friend, because instead, you get a center screen to control the seat heating, massage, and rear climate control. You also get tables to dine in a luxurious cabin. Who needs a restaurant when you can enjoy dining alone in a luxurious and quiet car, while the driver handles the rest? But if you love being the driver and hate boring cars, that's fine. Let me tell you about the tremendous power this car produces, transforming in seconds from a quiet, comfortable luxury car for everyday use into a rocket that will suffocate you with its sheer power.
It's powered by four electric motors, each with a peak output of 240 kilowatts, giving it a total output of 960 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 1,584 Newton meters. The horsepower is 1,300, and the car accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.
Additionally, the car is wide and large, measuring 5,265 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, 1,517 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,160 mm.
Have you ever heard of a tank turn? The BYD Yangwang U7 turns like a tank, too. It can do a full 360-degree spin in its place, and not only that, but it can also walk like a crab, like a GMC Hummer EV.
Another notable feature is the DiSus-Z body control system, which helps enhance ride comfort. This is the highest version of BYD's DiSus. This system also allows it to handle rough terrain. According to BYD, it offers greater comfort than a Maglevtrain, helping it navigate bumps without feeling them, enhancing safety. In the event of a flat tire, the system allows the suspension to automatically raise the damaged wheel, leaving the remaining three wheels to operate independently, allowing the car to continue traveling at a speed of 80 km/h for 30 kilometers.
This body control system can integrate data from LiDAR and camera sensors, allowing the suspension to predict road conditions 0.5 seconds in advance and adjust the body height and damping according to the road ahead.
And of course, we can't forget BYD's famous God's Eye autonomous driving system.
The battery-powered version, the BEV, is equipped with a 135.5 kWh battery and has a driving range of 720 kilometers. It can be charged from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes.
The hybrid PHEV version is equipped with a 52.4 kWh battery and has a total electric range of 1,000 kilometers with a full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery.
Since the car was officially launched today, we don't yet have any information about its launch in other markets. However, given BYD's remarkable success in the Arab markets, we might see it soon. Naturally, the car will be welcomed with open arms in the Arab markets, where people appreciate luxury cars at competitive prices. Arabs will be eager to test a Chinese electric sedan in the desert to see if it truly can handle off-road conditions.
