BMW has officially revealed the X5 2024 facelift, showcasing a series of significant technological and aesthetic enhancements.
The new model, dubbed X5 Protection, features VR6-level bulletproof protection. Notably, its exterior design remains consistent with the standard X5, ensuring it does not attract undue attention.
What Distinguishes the Armored Version?
BMW has reinforced the vehicle's exterior with high-strength steel protection panels and aluminum plates to enhance the underbody's security. In case of a bullet breach in the fuel tank, an automatic cover deploys to prevent fuel leakage and mitigate fire risks.
Powering the vehicle is the same engine found in the standard X5 M60i, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 hybrid, providing an impressive total output of 523 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. The vehicle's suspension and braking systems have been significantly upgraded to support the additional weight of the armor.
Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an intercom system that allows for communication with individuals outside the vehicle without the need to open windows or exit. BMW also offers specialized tactical military training programs for drivers.
Luxurious Interior Features
The interior boasts the luxury BMW is renowned for, featuring a 14.9-inch entertainment display, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, a climate control system with four distinct zones, and premium leather seating.
Production of the armored X5 is set to commence at BMW's facility in North Carolina, with deliveries anticipated to begin in February.
