On the grand stage of the automotive industry, BMW M is preparing to unveil the electric M2, heralding a new chapter for the brand. In this significant moment, BMW M takes us behind the scenes of electric vehicle development through an exciting teaser campaign, showcasing the eagerly awaited electric prototypes and delving into the composition of their powertrains.

The early prototype of the electric vehicle is based on the previous generation BMW M2 (F87). The white body features a slightly altered front bumper and a prominent rear wing, appearing somewhat conventional despite the glaring absence of exhaust outlets, potentially allowing the development team to test the new powertrain and driving dynamics on public roads unnoticed.

This familiar BMW M prototype has been spotted testing since 2022, based on the BMW i4, while incorporating various components from the M3/M4, broad-body styling, carbon ceramic brakes, and distinctive camouflage. More importantly, it is equipped with four electric motors, showcasing advanced torque steering capabilities.

Speaking about electric vehicle development, BMW M GmbH CEO Franciscus van Meel emphasized, “For me, it’s not about transformation but embracing new technology and exploring the limits of what is technically possible.” He noted that their goal is to “unify all control units, reducing electronic complexity and avoiding any interference between them.
