Recently, Land Rover officially released photos of the all-new pure electric Range Rover in high-temperature testing, and the model is expected to be officially launched in 2025.

On the exterior design, the pure electric version of the Range Rover and the fuel version of the model is basically the same, just in the front grille with closed design, and equipped with hidden door handles, the charging port is located on the right side of the vehicle, support for electric open and close and equipped with power alert light.

The Range Rover Pure Electric Edition features an 800-volt electrical architecture with a two-motor four-wheel-drive system and a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a range of more than 500 kilometres under WLTP conditions. This model not only inherits the off-road capability of the fuel version, but also boasts a wading depth of up to 850mm.

This test, which took place in the UAE, was conducted in temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius with humidity levels approaching 90 per cent. A key element of the test was to evaluate the performance of the new Thermal Management System, which is claimed to be the most advanced in Range Rover's history, in addition to verifying off-road performance. This test verified its ability to cope with the high temperatures to ensure comfort inside the vehicle.

During the test, the car was driven up the ‘Big Red Mountain’ in the Sharjah Al Badr Desert - a 300-foot (91.44 metre) sand dune - to test the electric Range Rover's new Intelligent Torque Management system.

This system replaces the traditional ABS-based traction control system and has the advantage of distributing power to each electric motor, thereby reducing torque response time from around 100 milliseconds to 1 millisecond, and thus improving traction control off-road. Jaguar Land Rover says there was no fade in any of the vehicles over five consecutive tests.

Land Rover also focused on testing the new intelligent torque management system on board the vehicle. This system is able to replace the traditional traction control system by precisely distributing power to each electric motor and significantly improving torque response from 100 milliseconds to 1 millisecond, thus enhancing off-road traction control.

In terms of market positioning, the Range Rover Pure Electric Edition's main competitors include the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, the Lotus Eletre, the BMW iX and other mid-size electric SUVs from luxury brands.
