In the braking test at 100 km/h, the test vehicle was the 2021 Tank 300 off-road version 2.0T Challenger.
Due to its long suspension travel and heavy weight, the Tank 300 showed significant compression in the front suspension and rear tilt during the braking test, but this did not significantly affect its overall performance.
The 265 wide tires provided a large contact area, and the front and rear ventilated disc brake systems effectively dissipated heat, ensuring stable braking performance. In the test, the Tank 300's braking distance at 100 km/h was 41.57 meters. Although this result is not outstanding, it is reasonable considering its weight.
It's worth noting that the entire braking process was relatively smooth, with speed decreasing linearly. Due to the high ground clearance, front suspension compression is unavoidable. In the 60-0 km/h braking test, the Tank 300 achieved a distance of 14.79 meters. Compared to vehicles in the same class, its overall performance is average, showing no significant advantages.
In terms of acceleration performance, the Tank 300, equipped with a 2.0T engine, recorded a best time of 9.57 seconds in the 0-100 km/h acceleration test, which is very close to the official time of 9.5 seconds. Although the G value during the initial phase is not prominent, considering the vehicle's weight, this achievement is quite remarkable.
Although the 2.0T turbocharged engine is not the Tank 300's strong suit, we still wanted to see its performance. By keeping the engine speed around 2000 RPM for a launch start, we could minimize power loss caused by tire slip.
During the testing, the tire grip responded in about 0.1 seconds after grabbing the surface, and the power was effectively unleashed. At this point, the maximum acceleration G value reached 0.483g, which was maintained until the first shift. The shifting time was about 0.5 seconds with minimal impact, ensuring good driving comfort.
The G value during second gear acceleration dropped to about 0.25g, and the vehicle successfully exceeded 100 km/h with a time of 9.57 seconds. While this data may not be eye-catching, considering the Tank 300's positioning, the performance is still qualified. The vehicle’s 0-60 km/h acceleration time was 4.18 seconds, which is significantly faster than the same class Haval H9 and Nissan Terra 2.5L, showcasing excellent overall performance.
