The main causes of Audi A6 transmission failures include damage to the control valve body and stubborn dirt and impurities accumulating inside the transmission. Excessive carbon buildup can lead to ignition difficulties, causing the ignition coil to break down in reverse, resulting in poor ignition and incomplete combustion, which triggers the pollution light.
When the ignition coil fails, the engine typically exhibits noticeable shaking. However, if the shaking is not severe, the ignition coil can generally be ruled out as the issue. Additionally, the pressure regulating valve contamination fault in the Audi A6 transmission is often due to wear in the internal regulating valve of the valve body, causing pressure regulation errors that trigger fault alarms when they reach a certain level.
To address this issue, we can upgrade and improve the problematic pressure regulating valve to completely resolve the fault. Fault code P1793 indicates an output fault in the transmission vehicle speed sensor; the remedy is to replace the vehicle speed sensor on the transmission. The specific steps include disconnecting the negative terminal of the vehicle battery, unplugging the vehicle speed sensor connector, unscrewing the sensor's fixed screws, and rotating and pulling out the sensor.
A limited transmission indicates a fault exists, and the transmission control unit automatically switches the control program into emergency mode to prevent damage. When a fault is detected, the transmission will lock into a specific gear position for safety. The transmission shifts all forward gears to the hydraulically controlled fourth gear, all solenoids are powered off, and the shifting pressure applied to the power transmission component is maximized, while still allowing the reverse gear to be engaged, with the gear lever position signal fixed at 'P/N'.
Regarding the Audi A6 transmission oil filling port, it is located on the transmission bottom shell, featuring one large and one small bolt, where the large bolt is the oil drain port and the small bolt is the oil filling port. The transmission oil serves not only as a lubricant but also for power transmission, gear cooling, anti-corrosion, anti-rust, and cleaning. Specifically, for the Audi A6L, the transmission oil filling port is located at the bottom of the vehicle, with two screws sealing holes—one for draining oil and the other for filling oil.
The filling port screw is an Allen bolt, and the typical filling volume is 6 to 7 liters. To fill the oil, the undercarriage needs to be dismantled to locate the filling port screw and unscrew it. After the old oil has drained out completely, new oil can be injected. The transmission differs from the engine, primarily comprising interlocking gears.
The specific steps for filling oil are as follows: open the driver's side door, pull the engine hood release switch located at the driver's left side, and lift the engine hood. The filling port is also where the oil drain bolt is located under the transmission. When draining oil, remove the black plastic tube inside, and after draining, secure it back before filling the new oil, aiming for about six liters.
