According to Thai media Headlightmag, the next-generation Toyota Hilux is set to debut in 2025. Along with a bold new exterior design, it is expected to introduce a diesel-hybrid powertrain. For the first time, the Hilux will also feature electronically assisted steering, enhancing driver comfort and control.
Built on the TNGA-F platform—shared with the Land Cruiser 300 and Tacoma—the new Hilux will benefit from improved size, technology, and versatility. This platform supports multiple powertrain options, including a 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine paired with a 48V mild hybrid system, producing 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque.
Beyond the mild hybrid, Toyota is developing a full hybrid version with a 2.4-liter diesel engine, aiming to boost fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. An all-electric Hilux is also reportedly in the works, designed primarily for corporate fleets. These upgrades will further enhance the Hilux’s off-road capabilities while maintaining its impressive 3,500 kg towing capacity.
Inside, the 2025 Hilux will offer a more premium experience, featuring high-quality upholstery, improved seating comfort, and advanced technology, including wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Toyota is also equipping it with cutting-edge safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking.
The exterior design will draw inspiration from the Tacoma, giving the Hilux a more modern and aggressive appearance. With its perfect balance of toughness and technology, this new generation is set to hit the market in 2025.
More than just a utility vehicle, the upgraded Hilux promises enhanced comfort, performance, and innovation. Further details will be revealed as the official launch approaches.
