Recently, the European Union held a vote on whether to impose a five-year countervailing duty on Chinese electric vehicles.
A statement released by the European Commission showed that the vote saw the Commission's proposal to impose tariffs on Chinese imports of purely electric vehicles receive the necessary support from EU member states.
According to the news, 10 countries were in favour, 12 abstained and 5 were against.
And in terms of specific tariffs:
35.3 per cent tax hike for other uncooperative electric car producers in China.
Tesla: 7.8 per cent
BYD: 17 per cent
Geely: 18.8 per cent
It's important to note that this is a tariff of up to 35.3 per cent on top of the original 10 per cent tariff!
