Toyota is considering introducing a powerful SUV in its high-performance lineup. Tomoya Takahashi, president of GR, stated that SUVs are essential for the future. He mentioned that many people choose SUVs due to family needs or space requirements. Therefore, to expand the brand, a high-performance SUV may be necessary.
Although he declined to elaborate on specific GR model details, it can be speculated that this SUV will be one of the largest in its class since the existing Yaris Cross and C-HR do not offer spacious interiors. Additionally, the bZ4X may also be excluded. Among potential candidates, the Toyota Land Cruiser could be an option, particularly the LC 250/Prado or the LC300 sold in specific markets. The Toyota RAV4 might also be a vehicle to look forward to.
Takahashi also mentioned that Gazoo Racing needs to determine the right model for future expansion since resources are limited. Due to budget constraints, they cannot launch multiple products in a short period. Currently, the GR versions of the Yaris, Corolla, 86, and Supra are available in the market.
