Ms. Shoko Nishimoto, a 79-year-old resident of Nagasaki City, has lived a life full of color. But of all these colors, none is brighter than her Mazda RX-7 (FD3S), a car that has been her companion for a quarter of a century. For Ms. Nishimoto, driving is not just a form of transport, but an experience of speed and freedom. Describing her driving experience, she said, "I go out almost every day in this manual car, and I love the feeling as if I'm flying on the moon." For her, the RX-7 is not just a means of transport, but an integral part of her life, like a close friend.
Ms. Nishimoto's passion for driving began the moment she received her driving license at the age of 21, and since then she has developed a deep emotional connection with cars. This RX-7 is her sixth car, and she is fascinated by its smooth lines and design, and under her careful care it has covered some 75,000 kilometers in 25 years and is still in good condition.
In 2023, more than 380,000 senior drivers in Japan voluntarily returned their licences, and Ms Nishimoto's choice represents the voice of this group. She hopes to find a new owner who will continue to cherish and care for the car and keep the memories alive.
