BYD has started selling its new Xia hybrid mini van in the Chinese market. A dealer in Guangdong province has announced that the price range for the vehicle has been set and reservations are now being accepted.
BYD unveiled the Xia mini van at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 30. There were earlier rumors that the vehicle would be named Tang Max or Zhuoho. BYD has given the new car the name of an ancient Chinese ruling dynasty, emphasizing the leading position of the Xia MPV in the market.
The vehicle is available for reservation in China at a price of $285, while the top model of Xia is priced at 350,000 yuan (approximately $49,665). In comparison, the Denza D9 mini van costs between 339,800 and 600,600 yuan, equivalent to $48,200 to $85,250.
Six features of the upcoming Xia mini van have been mentioned in a leaked advertisement, including the fifth-generation DM system, a new PHEV platform, a five-star C-NCAP safety rating, Dragon Face design language, an adjustable cabin, and the DiPilot driving assistance system.

According to an announcement from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Xia is equipped with a 36.628 kWh LFP battery, offering an electric range of 145 km (CLTC). The vehicle is powered by a 1500 cc engine with a maximum power of 154 horsepower. Its fuel consumption with an empty battery is 6.5 liters/100 km.
