Rolls-Royce was not quick to present the original Cullinan as the company’s first SUV, but the luxury SUV market has changed dramatically since 2018. Therefore, this is the perfect time for Rolls-Royce to update its greatest SUV.
There are no fundamental confirmations regarding the changes to the basic Cullinan Series II and the sportier Black Badge version. This means both variants will continue using a 563-horsepower V12 twin-turbo engine, while the Black Badge version offers 592 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque.
However, the new Cullinan facelift brings many detailed changes that reflect what Rolls-Royce has learned about the buyers of its most popular model. One of these insights is that Cullinan vehicles spend a lot of time in the city, and most are now driven by their owners, with an average customer age of just 43.
Visually, the new SUV can be easily identified by its square front end with DRLs. Rolls-Royce says this design is inspired by skyscrapers in the city. The lower bumper has also been redesigned, but arguably the most significant change is the introduction of a backlit grille for the first time.
The upgraded interior features a full-width digital dashboard designed similarly to that of the Spectre electric model. The company logo appears as a small statue beneath the clock. New material options include grey wood, synthetic silk made from bamboo, and a perforated seat pattern meant to resemble clouds over Rolls-Royce's Goodwood headquarters.
Most significant changes that appeared on the Cullinan also apply to its sportier Black Badge facelift. The vehicle's character has been enhanced with a front grille and spirit emblem, while window trims are now in black instead of chrome. The rear bumper and exhaust outlets received black chrome touches, along with 23-inch wheels.
Inside, there is the same digital dashboard, with the company logo in black instead of chrome. Carbon fiber trims inside require 23 parts, six layers of paint, and a total of 21 days to produce.
