Honda is further expanding its electric vehicle offerings in China by introducing the new Ye series. According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, details of the Ye S7 have been revealed, marking the first model produced under the Honda-Dongfeng joint venture project.
The vehicle was showcased at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show in the form of a GT prototype, and Honda Dongfeng had previously released teaser images. The new model features a sharp exterior design with wheel arches reminiscent of the P7 series. The Ye S7 is equipped with full-width LED headlights at the front, while the rear design is inspired by Cadillac, featuring cameras instead of side mirrors and hidden door handles to enhance aerodynamics.
Inside, the Ye S7 boasts a large entertainment screen that covers most of the center console, alongside a smaller instrument display positioned at the top of the dashboard, with ambient lighting integrated into the dashboard and door trims, along with a double sunroof.
The vehicle measures 4750mm in length, 1930mm in width, and 1625mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2930mm, making it comparable to the Tesla Model Y and Mustang Mach-E. The Ye S7 relies on a dedicated electric vehicle production platform in China, offering a rear-wheel-drive version with a single electric motor producing 268 horsepower, and an all-wheel-drive version that adds a front motor with an additional 201 horsepower. While details about driving range have not been disclosed, earlier reports indicated a range of up to 500 kilometers per charge with a lithium battery from CATL, without specifying its capacity.
Honda previously stated that production of the vehicle is expected to begin at the end of 2024, with the GT version slated for release in 2025. The car will be manufactured in China under the Honda-Dongfeng joint venture.
