The Renault Captur, the crossover version of the Clio, has received an update with a new facelift, adopting the latest design language and additional technology inside the cabin. The new model features no leather or chrome accents, aligning with Renault's commitment to sustainability. Meanwhile, the Esprit Alpine model has been introduced as the high-end variant of the lineup.
The engine lineup has largely been carried over from the previous model, including gasoline, gas, light hybrid, and full hybrid versions, with no diesel engines available.
The 2024 Renault Captur features a new front design inspired by the Scenic and Rafale models. The car comes with standard new LED headlights and arrow-shaped DRL lights on the revised front bumper. The rest of the body structure has not changed significantly, although the taillights feature modified LED units. The Captur also receives an updated Renault logo and is available in 14 color combinations and new wheel designs ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
The new Esprit Alpine model replaces the discontinued RS as the new flagship of the lineup. It features gray accents on the bumper, glossy black details, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the car showcases a sustainable “multi-material” fabric instead of leather, with the French flag, blue stitching, and blue-gray accents on the dashboard, along with aluminum pedals.
The updated driving cabin of the enhanced Captur features a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a slightly larger 10.4-inch touchscreen for the OpenR infotainment system. The vehicle offers 2 or 4 USB-C charging ports, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and an optional Harman Kardon sound system with 9 speakers.
The car measures 4,239 mm in length, making it family-friendly. The spacious interior features sliding rear seats, and the cabin storage space is 24.7 liters. The boot capacity ranges from 484 to 616 liters in the five-seat version.
The car comes on the tried-and-tested CMF-B platform. However, Renault engineers have modified the suspension geometry, shock absorber characteristics, and steering to enhance driving pleasure. Furthermore, the more powerful versions are equipped with completely new shock absorbers, and the Esprit Alpine relies on 19-inch Michelin tires.
The engines remain similar to the previous models. The 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine produces either 89 hp or 99 hp in the gas versions with a six-speed manual transmission. The more powerful 1.3-liter TCe four-cylinder turbo engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system produces 138 hp with a six-speed manual transmission or 158 hp when combined with the EDC automatic transmission. Some markets also receive a traditional 1.3-liter TCe engine producing 153 hp.
Finally, the most efficient option is the E-Tech hybrid engine that produces 143 hp. This setup includes a 1.6-liter engine, two electric motors, a 1.2 kWh battery, an automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive.
